Verhoeff-Van Gieson stain(VVG)

The Verhoeff stain is one of the most commonly-used stains to visualize elastic tissue, as found in blood vessel walls, elastic cartilage, lungs, skin, bladder, and some ligaments.

The elastic fibers will be stained blue-black and background will be stained yellow.

Major target

Elastic fibers （Blue-black to black）

Nuclei （Blue to black）

Collagen （Red）Other tissue elements （Yellow）
